I Do

Another storm hits the coast of Maine, and I can't help but think of summer! I think it's because I've been lucky enough to have met some wonderful and creative brides lately! Weddings always remind me of sunnier days!

Winter is a great time for brides to meet with photographers about their upcoming weddings. It's so fun to talk about the plans that are coming together with an excited bride. I love how when we meet in the winter, all her ideas are usually contained in a jam-packed three ring binder covered in Post-It notes, then, just a few short months later, all her hard work is a beautiful reality!

I'm always sure to capture the details of every wedding. They are really what sets each one apart. The bride and groom spend so much time picking out invitations, the band, the cake, flowers, etc. and the day goes by so fast... I love to see their faces when they open up their album and see that all their unique details have been captured forever.

So, now is the time to book your 2008 wedding. I only photograph one wedding per weekend, so dates tend to book quickly. Give me a call or shoot me an e-mail! I'd love to hear about all YOUR wedding details!

The Biggest Compliment

I've been fortunate enough to have seen my work displayed in some pretty cool places. I have a few images hanging in a doctor's office, a few in shows, several have been used in ads for this or that and I even photographed a magazine cover once. But I received the highest honor this week when I opened an e-mail from a client.

Krista, who's home on maternity leave after bringing baby Nicholas home before Christmas, e-mailed me a nice note along with some photos of her recent project. She has lovingly framed some of her proofs from our January session, and before dispersing them throughout her home, snapped some quick photos so I could see their noble purpose.

Seeing my work in such a place of honor, my clients home, was really nice. Often times I dream about sessions - hoping that people are enjoying their portraits as much as I enjoyed making them. So in that sense, Krista's e-mail was like a little dream come true.

Tickled Pink

I'm tickled pink to have met one-day-old Samantha Jayde today.

Samantha was born yesterday to proud mom and dad, Michelle and Jerry and new big-sister, nine-year-old Alexis Nichole. What a special Valentine's Day present for this beautiful family!

Congratulations!

Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice

... That's what little girls are made of!

Five-year-old best friends Jenna and Olivia visited me over the weekend for a big-girl photo-shoot. The last time they were in was when they were three, and though they both claimed to not remember, it sure didn't take long for these gal-pals to reacquaint themselves with the camera!

I had a blast learning all about what little girls are made of these days... and it's not just sugar and spice any more... Jenna loves the Cheetah Girls and her big brother Jack, while Olivia enjoys basketball and giggling.

It was really great to see these sweethearts again. I think we got some precious shots. Special thanks to their moms for bringing them in on a busy, snowy weekend!

Happy Valentine's Day!

My daughter Katie still loves to go down to the studio with me. That's why when I mentioned something about Valentine's Day cards, she was all for it.

People often ask me, "What should we wear?" when they call to schedule their session. Though choosing an outfit is important, it should not be a stressful event. Here, Katie and I decided to go with just a simple pink hat. Simplicity is the key! If done well, a portrait should be more about the subject and less about the clothing, the background or props.

I'm sure I'll look back at these pictures and remember Katie's laugh, her emerging personality and all the fun we had! Kinda makes the outfit no big deal at all, doesn't it?

A Taste of Summer!

If you know me, you know that I try to look on the bright side of things, but lately, with all the school cancellations, snow storms and slippery roads, it's been really tough for me, and most Mainers to keep our chin's up. That's why I was so glad when I got the opportunity to work with Sue Rioux this week.

Sue designs beautiful kaleidoscopes and gorgeous jewelry out of her home/studio in Kennebunkport. This week, we were working on photographing some of her newly designed earrings for an upcoming show. The bright colors and shiny glass was just what I needed to brighten my snowy day!

If you could use a touch of summer too, check out Sue's website at www.sueriouxdesigns.com. As for me, I'm going to go put on MY pair of Sue's earrings. I may keep them on until April!

Meet Roger!

Roger is our 9 year old Springer/Great Pyrenese mix dog. We adopted him from the AWS of Kennebunk about three years ago. Roger is currently being featured on the AWS's website, www.animalwelfaresociety.org as an adoption success story. We're so proud of our boy!

Looking Back...

As I was designing my new website, I had so much fun looking back on some images of years' past. It really made me think of all the wonderful people I've met, from the high school senior who became the blushing bride, to the groom who became the proud dad, it's been an blessing to get to know my clients an honor to photograph their special moments.

I'd like to take a moment to thank all my clients of the past as I look toward the future and realize what a wonderful job I really have!
